To break this cycle, try to reach out to businesses in your space that can offer a complementary service to what you do. For example, a web design company can always join forces with a copywriter to come up with a better business proposition for their customers. Not only will this help you gain traction, but it will also expand your horizons into different, untapped markets.

Go To One-Off Events

There are hundreds of events going on every day that startups can attend. It could be a community business group in your local area or, a national conference. The truth is, whatever event you go to, there is an opportunity to get your name out there and drum up business. A great option is a trade exhibition. All you need is a plan of action and a half-decent stand design, and you will get the chance to parade your product or service to people that are actually interested in it.


Incentives are a classic way of getting people to try new products and services. It doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg, either. Spend a couple of hundred pounds on an iPad and make a big fuss about it, and you will be surprised by the amount of people that will sign up. And once you are done, you have a ready-made audience that will be receptive to what you have to offer.

Get involved with a charity

Doing something for charity can bring a great deal of exposure to you and your business. It will mark you out as an upstanding member of your community, and psychologically, people will put more trust in you as a business person. Standing out is hard to do in this modern world, and little things like this can help. Also, other companies will want to get involved, and that can lead to plenty of additions to your contacts book.
