Barrelfish: Operating System Research Multicore support from Microsoft
Microsoft did not hesitate launched money for technology research. One of the interesting research being done at Microsoft is a research program Barrelfish for the operating system that is designed for multi-processor systems and many of the core.
Indeed a great time at this time when Microsoft did the research because it is currently improved processor capabilities instead of the speed but of the number of cores.
Despite the sophisticated hardware, when unsupported software that is designed to maximize the capabilities of the hardware, then the result is useless. Therefore the current operating system needs to be changed or improved in order to adjust.
This Program is a collaboration of ETH Zurich and Microsoft Research, Cambridge. ETH Zurich is a science and Technology University that has an amazing history of research.
