Protection counter is the counter for wasted ink; it says to printer how much space it has in special tray where all wasted ink are going during cleaning procedures. With time it became full (printer just won’t print in this case) and absorbtion padding must be replaced. After replacing the padding You must reset the protection counter to zero in order to continue ordinary printing.
Below You will find manual reset instructions to reset protection counter on older printer models manually (25 printer models).
- Turn off printer.
- Replace waste ink pad.
- Perform reset instructions provided for Your printer model below.
- Turn off printer.
EPSON CX6400/CX6600
- Turn on printer holding color copy and cancel buttons.
- You’ll see Init EEPROM on screen. Press green color copy button.
Any multifunction:
- Push the b/w + color + stop ( or maybe ok button ) together and hold.
- Push power on button and hold, don’t release all the button until you see the light indicator is blinking and then a message display on the lcd.
- Release you finger from the button.
- Push the color button once.
