1. Open command promt by click Start menu – program – Accessories – Command Promt or start menu then run or click windows button in the keyboard + R.
2. After Command Promt appears type “tsshutdn [time] /POWERDOWN” without (“), for example to shutdown automatically windows XP after 3600 second (one hour), type “tsshutdn 3600 /POWERDOWN” without (“) the press Enter.
3. If have, will appears the message “system in shutting down in 3600 seconds”. Klik Ok at this Pop up windows.
4. Minimize the Command Promt windows (note : don’t be closed the Command Promt windows. If closed the timer will not work)

Pada saat kita shutdown Windows XP dan aa program yang lupa kita tutup windows Xp dengan otomatis menutup program tersebut. Tapi untuk menutup program yang masih terbuka Windows XP masih membutuhkan waktu yang cukup lama. Alternatifnya kita mematikan sendiri dengan memilih end now (kalau windows ini tampil). Ada cara untuk mempercepat windows xp mematikan program tersebut dengan sedikit modifikasi registry, yaitu :

• Buka registry editor caranya klik Start – Run lalu ketik regedit dan klik Ok.

• Sekarang menuju ke tiga registry key dibawah ini :

• HKEY_CURRENT_USER | Control Panel | Desktop

• HKEY_USERS | .DEFAULT | Control Panel | Desktop

• HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE | System | CurrentControlSet | Control

• Cari string value yang bernama WaitToKillAppTimeout, string value ini untuk menentukan lamanya batas tunggu windows Xp mematikan program.

• Modifikasi nilainya dengan cara klik dua kali pada string tersebut atau anda klik kanan lalu pilih Modify.

• Ubah nilainya menjadi lebih kecil misalnya 1000, semakin kecil nilainya maka batas tunggunya akan semakin pendek ( nilai tersebut satuannya menggunakan mili second), jadi kalau di set menjadi 1000 batas tunggunya Cuma 1 detik padahal kalau default nya yaitu 20000 atau 20 detik.

• Kalu sudah anda klik Ok
