Disable Cache Thumbnails in Windows Xp
If you have high end PC specs might you needn’t this tips because this feature will useful for low PC specs. When openingĀ images file using windows explorer and using thumbnail view Windows XP will save the view as cache. This cache will is useful if you view the image again from windows explorer. The cache will be saved as “Thumbs.db” and it hidden.
But the bad, this cache will decrease hard disk space and decrease performance the Windows XP. You can delete the “Thumbs.db” file manually to delete the cache but it will spent your time. The easy way to delete it you can disable this feature, you can change registry setting to disable this feature.
Here how to Disable Cache Thumbnails in Windows Xp by changing registry setting:
- Start a registry editor, Start-Run then type regedit
- Navigate to :
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software | Microsoft | Windows | CurrentVersion | Explorer | Advanced registry subkey - Double-click the DisableThumbnailCache value or create this
value of type DWORD if it doesn’t exist. - Set the value to 1, then click OK (to enable set the value to 0)
- Close the registry editor
- Restar the PC to take effect.
