Ink Level Reset Canon PG-40, CL-41, PG-50, CL-51, CL-52 Cartridges
This tutorial reset for ink level Canon Cartridges PG-40, CL-41, PG-50, CL-51 and CL-52 is taken from video land refill website. The tutorial in the website is German language but I’ve tranlated it to English language. To reset ink level on these canon cartridge you need a “Scotch tape”.
The Canon Cartridges PG-40, CL-41, PG-50, CL-51, CL-52 usually be used in most canon printer such as, iP1700, iP1880, iP1300 and more canon Pixma printer. On some canon printer types, you can reset the ink level using software reseter but if not found the resetter for your canon printer type, you can do this methods to reset ink level in your canon printers.
Reset Ink level Canon Printer Cartridges PG-40, CL-41, PG-50, CL-51, CL-52
To reset the ink Level (method 1)
- Paste with a thin strip tape the upper horizontal row contactjes
Out of the cartridge (Picture 1) - Insert the cartridge into the printer and close the lid.
- The printer will now on the move, but wait until there on the screen Your computer is the message that there is a wrong way to a Ink cartridge is loaded. Click OK in the message
- Open the lid of the printer and remove the cartridge from there.
- Download Now the strip of adhesive tape and paste it contact now on the Second row (from top) horizontal contactjes. (Picture 2)
- Insert the cartridge into the printer back again and closed the lid. Weather will The printer is on the move again, and again we place an alert on Your monitor. This time, the message that the cartridge can not Be recognized. Click on OK again
- Open the printer and remove now for the last time the cartridge from the
Printer. - Remove the tape and insert the cartridge in the printer and connect it Lid.
- The printer is the cartridge back as a new and indicates that the cartridge full again
Resetting the ink Level (method 2)
Works only in some cases
- Paste with a thin strip tape the bottom row of horizontal contact The cartridge off
- Insert the cartridge into the printer and close the lid.
- The printer will now on the move, but wait until there on the screen Your computer is reported that on one wrong way Ink cartridge is loaded. Click OK in the message
- Open the lid of the printer and remove the cartridge from there.
- Download Now the strip of adhesive tape and paste it contactjes now on the Contact uppermost horizontal row.
- Insert the cartridge into the printer back again and closed the lid. Weather will The printer is on the move again, and again we place an alert on Your monitor. This time, the message that the cartridge can not Be recognized. Click on OK again
- Open the printer and remove now for the last time the cartridge from the Printer.
- Remove the tape and insert the cartridge in the printer and connect it Lid.
- The printer is the cartridge back as a new and indicates that the cartridge full again

Does anybody knows what to do???

Error code E5 indicates that the cartridge cannot be recognized by the printer. Check link below to find more about this error 🙂

Anyone know, what I must do, to “unlock” my cartidge ?
There is nothing you can do. The copper part on the cartridge is like a time fuse, it dies. When this happens the printer will not recognize the cartridges. It is time for new ones. sorry for the let down but your refill was a waste.

there’s a great secret here. And It’s just a simple one. ” You must not let those cartridges out of ink to a bottom line of the cartridges because those above errors become from it” If one of 3colours become very few in amount.. You have to refill it as a procedure mention below..
(1) open the scanner to drive cartridges to remove position
(2) un-plug the printer
(3) take out cartridges & refill
(4) let the ink cartridges for 15mins for ink stable
(5) reinstall them & re-plug power cord
there’s nothing to happen those errors…
I tried the method but to much chagrin it failed. Any help with the Canon MX310
why not work? i try to reset PG 40 & 41 the indicator ink not full.
I’ve tried the Canon all shuffle and none of these work. driver change NFG, blind contacts on cartridge NFG, power off power on routine NFG, bought new Canon Cartridges WORKS LIKE A DAM only cost me $60, what a bummer,PG40 and CL41.
On my IP1600 this didn’t work.
No worky on my POS Canon all in one… all good things have to come to an end.

PIXMA200 – not working this method. Counter is inside cartridge chip. Printer is reading information from this. No way to change counter without resetter kit.
