An iPhone Lover’s Guide To the Google Nexus 5

Are you thinking of dropping your iPhone 5 and getting a new Nexus 5 from Google? You’re not alone. We’re going to go over what Apple users need to know about the Nexus 5 before they switch. When you take a look at all the features of the new Nexus smartphone, it’s going to be easy to see why so many people are leaving the iPhone behind and going with the new Google mobile phone.

iPhone and Nexus Similarities

First, let’s go over some of the similarities between the two smartphones, which have many of the same features.

  • Expensive – One way in which the iPhone 5 and Nexus 5 are similar is the price. Both are priced rather high. Having said that, if you sign up with a two year contract with a service provider, you can usually get either phone at a highly discounted rate which can save some money.
  • Search – Apple iOS has Siri and Google’s Android has Google Now. While both are similar services – you ask your smartphone a question and it tries to come up with an answer automatically – you’re going to find that they both suffer from some of the same limitations.

Nexus 5 and iPhone 5 Differences

Next, let’s take a look at the major differences between the Nexus 5 and the iPhone 5 so that you can decide if you’re ready to take the plunge and make the switch yet.

  • Files and Sharing – Believe it or not, the Nexus 5 from Google makes sharing and transferring files from your phone to the cloud or your laptop a lot easier. This has a lot to do with the new Google Android operating system, but it’s important to mention.
  • More Open – Another thing you’re going to notice about the Nexus 5 is that it’s a lot easier to run cross-platform apps because of the beauty of the Android OS. While it may take some time to get used to the differences, it’s worth the effort according to many.

Ready to Make the Switch?

Moving away from the iPhone may sound like it’s scary – because it is in many ways – but it’s still a good idea for Apple users to at least experiment with the new Google phone – the Nexus 5. The flagship Android smartphone has come a long way and is now even better than the iPhone according to many reviews you can find online.

If you’re planning on making the switch, you might be able to do so without getting a new wireless service provider. You’ll still want to make sure you can move all your contacts over to the new phone. This may be a bit tricky, but it is possible several different ways. The big thing is to at least give the Nexus 5 a chance. The best way to do this is by experimenting with it if you can get your hands on one.
