Reset Waste Ink Counter Canon Pixma MP145
Althouh Resetter Canon MP145 at this not available but you can use manual reset to Reset Canon MP145. I get from forum but I’m not try this reset methode on Canon MP145, just sharing for other that require reset procedure for Canon Pixma MP145 to reset counter on this Canon Printer. This reset method also can be used to reset Canon MP150 and Canon MP160. Canon Pixma MP145 is multifunction inkjet printer with Scanning, printing and copying features. Canon PIxma Mp145 using canon Cartridge PG40 and Cl41. this cartridges type be used on almost all new inkjet printer from canon.
Here the reset procedure to reset waste ink counter on Canon Pixma MP145 :
- Connected Printer to a Power source, Turn off the printer if printer on
- With the Printer power off, press the Power button while press and hold Stop/Reset button.
- When the Power led is light, press Stop/Reset button two times while pressing and holding the Power button.
- When releasing the Power button and the Stop/Reset button (regardless of order), the printer will move into a service mode. (Waiting for menu selection)
- When the on/off lights in green, press the Stop/Reset button four times to reset wase ink counter. For other specified number pressed function listed in the table below. (Each time the Stop/Reset button is pressed, the LED lights alternately in orange and green, starting with orange).
- Unplug cable power from a power source.

Hey I would like some help, when I go into service mode the display never goes green and instead the alarm led blinks 5 times. If I press the stop/reset button nothing happens. What’s going on?

realy i am very happy with your helpful trick. I save rs 500/- for any reset of my printer canon pixma mp145.
1. turn off printer
2. with printer connected to a power source, press and hold both power and reset button for approx 10 sec
3. release reset button but do not release power button yet
4. press reset button 2x then release power button
5. wait for printer to power up
6. on powering up you should see 0 on the led screen (if not, RESTART!)
7. press reset button 4x
8. press power button 3x and wait for printer to power off
9. press power to turn on printer
Dear Fellow Strugglers
The Canon cartridges for my Pixma MP140 printer have run out of ink as indicated both on the printer by the E4 signal and on the computer by a pop up window when trying to print a document.
I decided to refill both cartridges using a refill kit supplied specifically for Canon cartridges. The refilled cartridges were reinserted into the printer and after switching on the printer the E4 signal reappeared. Hence the printer was not recognising that the cartridges had been refilled.
I was advised to Google โChip reset for Canon cartridgesโ, the objective of which is to reset the chip on the cartridge which reads the ink level in the cartridge.
I came across the Maynard method which I applied but only got as far as step 4, at which point the fault light starting flashing and I could not get beyond that step. I got the impression from the description of the Maynard method that one starts with nearly empty cartridges to reset the chip(s).
After the resetting process the cartridges are removed then refilled (Step 10) and after reinsertion, the printer should recognise that the cartridges are full.
However I am BEGINNING with refilled cartridges. Does anyone know a procedure for resetting the chips where we are beginning with a refilled cartridge?
help me plzzzzz… when i plug in power switch, my mp145 auto switch on & ALARM LIGHT is on only,… and no function..for info, i just open my mp145 to all parts without manual & its my own.. help me plzzzzz….
I have a pixma MX870, so I tried to follow the directions and i do the following:
1.) press and hold the stop/reset button
2.) press and hold the power button while still holding the stop button.
3.) The light on the “Copy” option lights up.
4.) Press the reset button 2x (orange “alarm” light lights up, on 1st press, green copy light lights up on 2nd press)
5.) release stop button then power button, it boots up normally and I still have a my 6C10 error.

what if MP 145 colour Tank run out of ink but Black catrige still full? what will you do? Printer will show an Error. This Is my solution.
-Press Stop/Reset Button (hold it)
-Press Black Button
-Release Stop/Reset Button
-Now you can print / scan/ copy as usual.
error e27 is in absorber full and u need to reset it using the step that given above.

Thanks works for MP140
1. Switch the printer Off.
2. Hold down Stop/ Reset button (red circle in the triangle) and then hold down Power button
3. Release Stop/ Reset button (donรฏ’t let go of the power button yet)
4. Press Stop/ Reset button twice, then release Power button
5. Wait until printhead finishes moving, green light on the Power button will change from blinking to steady
6. Click Stop/ Reset button 4 times
7. Click power button once
8. Disconnect power cable or switch off at mains
9. Reconnect power, press power button – you should now see a 1 on the display instead of alternating E,2,7
With the ‘The ink absorber is full’ message now gone I could use the scanner again (which had been refusing to work – giving message: canon mp140 code: 2,250, 0).
It’s stupid that you can’t use the scanner on a Canon AIO unless the 2 ink cartridges are installed and working properly…

I struggled for two days with my MP145 printer and finally my problem solved.
Problem: There is no color ink. Printer was displaying ‘E 4’. I tried all resetting methods and nothing worked. Finally I came across this link: http://slayo.com/error-4-or-no-ink-in-printer-canon-mp145.html.
All you have to do is:
1. Turn on your printer.
2. When its turned ON and displaying ‘E 4’, press and hold the reset button until printer shows ‘1’.
3. Done ๐
im using canon mp145. Previously on CISS ink. Recently having E5 error on starting up.
Tried the above method…after press everything and restart..it still shows error E5.
Then i removed the CISS and put in a brand new Canon Original Black catridge. Still E5 error.
what else can i do??

Howdy. All of a sudden I get thie E5 to the color cartridge error and I can’t get over it; If I try accessing the service mode I can’t choose any option by clicking on the reset button, since even in this mode the alarm led blinks and it doesn’t leave me doing anything!
thanks bbl… i got your instruction and i made it.. very helpful.. now i can use back to my printer… more trick hopefully for other printers to help a consumer and to save money by bringing the printer to the computer shop and pay sufficient amount which is additional burden to us.. and now i can do itself to fix the error like this… thanks so much..

Canon Pixma MP145 e-5 error. Tried many many times all methods listed on this website to bypass color cartridge. Nothing worked. Only need black but cannot disable the color and cannot print. Even changed all my print instructions to BLACK COLOR ONLY. Nothing nothing works. Should I throw it out the window?
